Shopee’s New Policy: Buyer Instant Cancellation

According to Shopee, effective 13 November 2024, buyers will be able to cancel their orders instantly before the parcel is handed over to the courier. In addition, buyers will have the option to select Return/Refund (RR) even while the parcel is still in transit. You can learn more about the in-transit Return/Refund process here.



To minimize failed deliveries (such as buyer rejections) and reduce Return/Refund cases, buyers will have the ability to cancel their orders at any time before the parcel is handed over to logistics, starting from 13 November 2024.




Note:

Instant cancellation after shipment has been arranged does not apply to orders for pre-order items, Same-Day Delivery, custom-made products, perishable goods, digital items, or orders shipped via non-Shopee Supported Logistics partners. In these cases, seller approval is required for cancellations once shipment has been arranged.

Starting from 13 November 2024, buyers will be able to cancel their orders instantly at any time before the parcel is handed over to logistics partners. Instant cancellations will be processed under the following conditions:

- The cancellation occurs before shipment is arranged.
- The cancellation occurs after shipment is arranged but before handover to logistics partners, provided the order is shipped via Shopee-Supported Logistics.



Sellers can check the buyer's cancellation reason by going to the Cancellation tab in the Order Details. For Instant Cancellation requests, sellers can filter by the following return reason codes chosen by the buyer:

1. Need to change delivery address – The buyer entered an incorrect address.

2. Seller is not responsive to my inquiries – The buyer has not received a response from the seller regarding their Return/Refund inquiry.

3. Modify existing order (color, size, voucher, etc.) – The buyer wants to adjust their order, such as changing the variation, quantity, or applying vouchers or coins.

4. Others / Change of Mind – The buyer decided they no longer want the item and wishes to return it for a refund. Learn more about the Change of Mind Return/Refund process here.
